Functions of Alloy Elements
Magnesium (Mg):
Core spheroidizing element with stable composition and strong nodularizing capability.
Rare Earth (RE) Elements:
Desulfurization and degassing to purify molten iron.
Neutralize anti-nodularizing elements.
Calcium (Ca):
Reduces MgO content in the nodulizer.
Mitigates excessive chill tendency caused by RE elements.
Reacts preferentially with oxygen, delaying Mg's violent reaction to moderate spheroidization kinetics.
